Cataract and Cataract surgery
Dr. Wellington Chang specializes in the evaluation and management of cataracts, including cataract surgery.
What is a cataract? A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens in our eye that impairs our ability to see clearly. Over time, this clouding can worsen, making daily tasks such as reading, computer work, gardening, and driving, more difficult. How is a cataract treated? Cataract surgery is a commonly performed procedure that removes the clouded lens and replaces it with a clear lens implant, restoring our vision so that we may again see as clearly as we once did. How do I know if I need surgery? The determination to proceed with surgery depends on the progression and stage of a cataract as well as how much it impacts your daily activities. Mild cataracts that do not significantly affect your vision typically do not require surgery. Once a cataract progresses, and as daily activities become more difficult, surgery may then be considered. Call our office at 703-951-3930 to schedule your cataract evaluation. |
